June is here and it's the full on start of summer! This means the season of cook-outs, pool parties, boating and loads of summer fun! Time to break out the swimsuits and sun-block and enjoy long sunny days and hot summer nights! Whether you love boating, skiing, or just relaxing in the pool with a frosty beverage, this is the month to get to it! Fathers Day is right around the corner, why not bring Dad out to enjoy our Summer Music Series and our tasty grill menu during Barefoot at the Belmont every Thursday night through-out June? Dad too tired after the fun, get him a room as part of one of packages for the series! Come on down and show Dad a good time, I'll save a beach towel for ya!

People greatly overestimate what they can accomplish in a short amount of time.
People greatly underestimate what they can accomplish in the long term.
- Brian Buffini
In the book Total Immersion, Terry Laughlin writes the following:
It is essential to feel clumsy or incompetent at times-and to smile at yourself when you do. Master learners surrender what the "know" in order to learn something new.
It is important that we are willing to go through the embarrassment stage in learning any
physical activity. Give up worrying how you might look when starting something new.
This is especially true with exercises that challenge our balance. Balance is a complex skill that can be enhanced. Build it early in life and it will keep you young and carry you far. Elliptical machines, balance balls, BOSU balls, and simply exercising on one foot can all help.
More importantly, don't let fears of embarrassment and how you might look keep you from trying something new. Be willing to look foolish now in order to build new strengths.

Sick by Zayd Dohrn
May 30 – Jun 28, 2008 (5 week run)
In Sick, a college professor brings his star student home to meet his dysfunctional family - a home so obsessed with cleanliness that the real dirt lurks around every corner and behind every sentence. Toying with our post 9/11 phobias, this quirky dark comedy plays upon our fears, both real and imagined.
KDT Co-Artistic Director Christopher Carlos directs the National New Play Network World Premiere (NNPN) headliner of Kitchen Dog's tenth annual New Works Festival. A great cast has been assembled for the production that includes KDT Artistic Company member Lee Trull (Jim), local luminaries James Crawford (Sidney) and Lisa Hassler (Maxine) as well as recent SMU Theater program graduates Martha Harms (Sarah) and Lee Helms (Davey). |

A Dog's Life
A howlingly funny new musical by SEAN GRENNAN & LEAH OKIMOTO
May 22, 2008 – June 22, 2008
Charlie Chaplin made a film with this same title in the silent film days. Ever since then, Hollywood has paraded talented canines like Rin Tin Tin, Lassie, Asta, and Benji whose exploits have entertained us in every decade. This refreshing new musical, A Dog’s Life, romps through the same beloved territory and manages to be goofily hilarious and sweetly moving. This piece tells the story of a rescued pooch, the young man who adopts him, and a complicated pack of four footed pals, all puzzled by the strange ways of the humans around them.
